Educated in Somerset, I graduated from St Catherine’s College, Oxford in 1978 and spent 16 years in the Army, before returning to the West Country to qualify as a solicitor in 1994.
I spent much of my childhood on a family farm, developing a love of the countryside and was able to realise my dream of working with farmers and landowners.
Awarded a Master of Laws degree in Agricultural law in 1999, I trained at Clarke Willmott before moving to Essex to work in London where I became first an Associate and then a Partner with two private client firms based in the Inns of Court acting for some of the largest landed families in England.
I was one of the first lawyers to be awarded the highly exclusive Fellowship of the Agricultural Law Association in September 2009.
I joined Thomson & Bancks as a consultant in September 2022 and specialise in Commercial Property Law with particular reference to agricultural and equine land.
Outside the office I like to play Real Tennis and golf very badly.
