Race-day excitement is building, and the office is buzzing with anticipation! With the Cheltenham Tri Festival taking place on 13th September 2026, the big day is getting closer, and we are thrilled to be sponsoring the event once again!
The action all unfolds at Cheltenham Lido, one of the country’s most stunning open-air swimming spots, and this event always makes a splash with participants, families and volunteers turning out in force. If you are racing, cheering from the poolside, or just there for the atmosphere, it’s set to be another belter of a day!
This year we are not just watching from the sidelines: we have our own team going the distance, tackling the swim, cycle and run legs in support of Sue Ryder.
No pressure, team… but we’re already tri-ing not to get too excited…

Meet the Team
They won’t be going it alone either – a whole crew of colleagues and their families will be down at the finish line cheering the team home and helping wherever needed.
Consider it our unofficial fourth discipline: moral support.

Claire Burrow – Swim
“I’m a Solicitor based in the commercial property team at Thomson & Bancks Solicitors, where I specialise in helping businesses navigate their real estate legal needs. This year, I have decided to step outside my comfort zone and take part in the upcoming Cheltenham Tri Festival team event alongside my colleagues. I am undertaking this challenge to raise vital funds for Sue Ryder, an incredible charity that supports people through terminal illness, complex neurological conditions, and grief.”

Jack Morgan-Ebdon – Cycle
“I am a Lawyer in the Business Services Team; I have competed in the Cheltenham Lido Triathlon a few times as an individual – it is a fun day and I enjoy the community feeling of the event. My training has mainly been formed on cycling from Cheltenham to Tewkesbury each Monday for work, but I also recently completed a 24-hour swim relay at Watersedge Club to help with overall stamina!”

Holly Winkley – Run
“I am a Paralegal in the Litigation, Employment and Family team and am taking part in the Triathlon to support T&B and a good cause. Training so far has been slow… but fun!”

Supporting Sue Ryder
Every stroke, pedal and stride this year is in aid of Sue Ryder, a charity providing vital palliative care, and neurological and bereavement support. Every bit of sponsorship helps the charity keep supporting people and families through some of life’s hardest moments.

See you at the finish line
Good luck to everyone taking part, whoever you are racing for! May your legs be strong and your goggles fog-free. We will be at Cheltenham Lido cheering as loudly as we can.
Stay tuned for updates as race day approaches, and for the full finish-line recap once our team crosses that line!

Four years of supporting the Cheltenham Tri Festival
Supporting local events is an important part of Thomson & Bancks’ connection with the communities it serves, and the Cheltenham Tri Festival is a great example of this. From those taking on their first triathlon to experienced participants looking to challenge themselves, the event brings together people with different goals and abilities, all with the same sense of achievement and determination. Over the years, we have been delighted to support the event and see it continue to grow as part of the Cheltenham community.
