Paul Johnson

Managing Partner

Paul offers the following support from Tewkesbury:
Services for Individuals: Dispute Resolution or Employment Law.
Services for Businesses: Dispute Resolution or Employment Law.

As Managing Partner my focus is on ensuring that Thomson & Bancks Solicitors continues to deliver the high standards expected of a professional and ethical firm. I have wide ranging responsibilities for financial and regulatory compliance but most of all I support my team to ensure that Thomson & Bancks deals with everyone, its staff, partners, clients, other professionals and the public, with honesty and decency.

My areas of work have centred around employment and business law. Over the past 40 years I have handled a broad range of property, business, agricultural and commercial disputes. My advocacy experience has ranged across criminal prosecution and defence, civil & family law, enquiries and the Employment Tribunal for employers and employees. I am a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

I graduated with an LLB Honours Degree in Law from University of Wales (U.W.I.S.T. in Cardiff) in 1983 and after being Articled to a firm in Lincoln I was admitted as a Solicitor in 1986. Although originally from East Yorkshire I have lived in Gloucestershire since 1988. I am married with two grown up daughters.

I joined our Pershore office (then known as Gordon Bancks & Co) in 1990 and became a partner in 1994. I have continued to evolve as a lawyer stepping into areas of work to meet the needs of my clients and my firm. Along the way I have always worked to put something back into the community including taking my turn as Director of a neighbourhood charity, chairing organisations and committees such as local Chambers of Trade, and have even used my clarinet playing during the Pershore Plum Festival as the “Pershore Plum Charmer”. You can see the Thomson & Bancks news articles to learn more about my charming! I am fortunate to be able to play my clarinet with professional educators and local music makers. Access to education and self-expression for all age groups is important to me and at various times I have been a primary school governor and a trustee of the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury

I am pragmatic and recognise that legal services will not fix all the problems in the world. In reality justice will not always be accessible, and a down to earth commercial view is a wise one. As Solicitors it is a matter of personal responsibility for us to put the interests of our own clients first with appropriate dignity and respect to everyone. Legal services can be an unwelcome expense, but we conscientiously believe that all our clients, individuals and businesses, are in a better place with our services than without them.
