As we reflect on the past year at Thomson & Bancks Solicitors, we are reminded of what truly defines us: our people, our community and our unwavering commitment to delivering trusted legal support.
This year brought meaningful milestones, heartfelt celebrations and a renewed sense of connection with the communities we proudly serve.
Championing local events and sporting achievements
We were delighted to return as sponsors of the Cheltenham Tri Festival, a highlight in our community calendar and a true celebration of resilience and teamwork. The event saw competitors of all levels take on the iconic Cheltenham Lido course, including several of our own team:
- Jack Morgan-Ebdon, completing the full sprint triathlon in an impressive 1 hour 26 minutes and 27 seconds
- A committed relay team – Wendy Haskins, Allison Findlay and Jemma O’Connor – who crossed the line in 1 hour 20 minutes and 53 seconds despite last-minute challenges
Meanwhile, Thomson & Bancks colleagues were also on hand to cheer competitors home at the finish line and hand out goody bottles.
In the sporting world, we have continued our sponsorship of the Tewkesbury Bowls Club Championship, and have also been sponsoring local netball teams. Thomson & Bancks also began sponsoring 18 year old racer Ben Smiles, proudly supporting as he finished third overall in the Mazda MX5 Cup National Race Series in his first senior season – an outstanding achievement that we were thrilled to celebrate.
We also continued our involvement with the Upper Rissington Village Fete, sponsoring the Friends of Rissington School’s much-loved “Hook a Duck” stall.
Last but not least, we have continued proudly supporting the Roses Theatre pantomime for several years. As costume sponsors, members of the Thomson & Bancks team recently attended the script readthrough and dress rehearsal for Jack and the Beanstalk.
Celebrating the milestones of our team
This year brought an exceptional number of personal achievements within our team – moments that highlight the loyalty, experience and heart behind the Thomson & Bancks name.
A standout moment was celebrating Guy Curry’s remarkable 50-year milestone as a qualified solicitor. Partner John Stagg presented Guy with a gold practicing certificate in recognition of his outstanding career.
Several colleagues also celebrated long-service anniversaries this year:
- Clive Haines, Residential Property Assistant, achieved an incredible 25 years of service
- Stephanie Burrill – in her second stint at Thomson & Bancks – marked 10 years as a Paralegal in our Tewkesbury office
- Louise Dimitriou, Assistant in our Private Client department, also celebrated 10 years
These milestones reflect the strength and continuity of a team committed to exceptional client care.
Partnership changes and future leadership
Thomson & Bancks also undertook notable leadership changes. We wished a warm retirement to Jonathan Davies, who integrated Davies Murray-White into Thomson & Bancks in 2018 and has offered invaluable guidance as a Private Client specialist.
In July, we also proudly welcomed two new Partners, who both bring exceptional expertise and reflect the future-focused leadership of our firm:
- Rebecca Tiffin, Commercial Property specialist based in Pershore
- Jemma O’Connor, Chartered Legal Executive and Private Client specialist in Stratford-upon-Avon
Creativity, charity and community fundraising
Supporting our local community and charitable initiatives has always been close to our hearts, and this year demonstrated that commitment more strongly than ever.
Our much-loved Halloween Bake Off returned for its 10th anniversary, bringing together colleagues across all three offices for a joyful mix of imaginative baking and friendly competition. From burning chocolate spellbooks to eerily realistic “hearts,” creativity was on full display. Together, we raised £144 for Bowel Cancer UK, a charity deeply valued by our team.
We also took part in the Charity Christmas Tree display at The Star Inn in Pershore, decorating our sponsored tree to raise donations also for Bowel Cancer UK. It was inspiring to see the community come together – families, visitors and local businesses alike – supporting causes close to their hearts.
Beyond fundraising, we were honoured to assist local heritage organisations. Our Business team advised the Waterworks Museum in Hereford on the legalities surrounding a significant financial gift, helping secure the museum’s long-term vision and preserve an important local landmark for future generations.
Giving back remains fundamental to who we are, whether that be through fundraising, volunteering or offering specialist advice.
Regular team socials
As a team, we work hard together and we enjoy spending time together outside the office. Our summer and Christmas socials have given staff and those closest to them the chance to relax, while our departmental outings have been great for building stronger connections across the business.
Looking ahead with a fresh digital presence
Finally, we were delighted to unveil our brand-new website and refreshed brand, designed to make accessing our legal services faster and simpler. With improved navigation, updated photography and an interactive timeline celebrating our proud heritage, the new platform reflects our commitment to client-focused innovation.
This year has shown us once again that our strength lies in our people, our partners, and our community. As we close the book on 2025, we would like to thank everyone who has been part of our journey this year and wish you a restful, joyful break filled with happiness and time with loved ones!
