This year’s Cheltenham Tri Festival took place at the iconic Cheltenham Lido on Sunday 14th September, and was another fantastic celebration of community, determination and sporting spirit!
Thomson & Bancks were proud to sponsor the triathlon event once again, supporting competitors of all ages and abilities as they took on the challenge.
The atmosphere was buzzing from the first swim to the last sprint, with participants ranging from first timers and charity entrants for Linc, to seasoned club athletes and those simply there for fun. Although conditions were a little chilly, the rain stayed away, making it a great day for racing and spectating alike!
Our team was out in force at the finish line, cheering every competitor home and handing out well-earned goodies. A huge well done goes to our colleagues who took part:
- Jack completed the full sprint triathlon in a brilliant 1 hour 26 minutes and 27 seconds
- The relay team of Wendy Haskins, Allison Findlay and Jemma O’Connor crossed the line in 1 hour 20 minutes and 53 seconds, placing 9th out of 17 (despite some last-minute changes due to injury and bike issues)
The feedback from the Lido has been overwhelmingly positive, with everyone agreeing it was a welcoming and supportive event that captured the true spirit of community sport.
