Your partner in every legal step

Stephen L D Cook
I went to Nottingham University where I read law and became a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 1974. I commenced work as an Articled Clerk (now known as a Trainee Solicitor) in March 1975 with Gordon Bancks & Co in Pershore, a predecessor to Thomson & Bancks. I qualified as a Solicitor in June 1977 and was made a Partner in July 1978. I retired as a Partner on 30th June 2021 but continued to work with Thomson & Bancks as a consultant dealing with a wide range of personal injury claims.
I specialised in larger more complex claims including brain injury claims, catastrophic claims, and claims involving multiple injuries. I have had experience of most types of litigation including crime, family (including divorce), commercial litigation, personal injury litigation and clinical negligence claims. In my role as commercial litigator I was recommended by the publication “The Legal 500” as an expert in Reservation of Title claims (Romalpa) which often involved emergency interlocutory injunctions, both in the County Court and the High Court. I was involved with litigation claims for 40 years, and conducted personal injury claims throughout that time. I was accredited by the Law Society as a Personal Injury Specialist, and also by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) as a Senior Litigator.

David C Greer
I was admitted as a Solicitor in April 1980 having graduated with an Honours Degree in Law from Leicester University in 1977. After training in Cardiff, I joined the firm in 1982 and became a partner in 1985. From being a general practitioner “jack of all trades”, in recent years I have specialised in property law, particularly commercial property. I have acted for a number of substantial landlords, land owners and property developers locally and beyond. Strange as it may seem to some, I actually enjoy the intellectual exercise of drafting complex legal documents. My pet hate is legalise and I always try to draft in a plain style that my clients will understand. Oh that all lawyers would do the same! Until my retirement as a partner, I was the head of the Business Law Department.
After 37 years with the firm I decided to call it a day and retired as a Partner on 30th June 2019. I remained as a consultant to the firm, undertaking special projects and passing on my years of experience.

Jonathan W H Davies
I qualified as a solicitor in 1988 having obtained a law degree at Buckingham University. I trained and worked in Birmingham before moving to Oxford and eventually to Stratford-upon-Avon in 1995 where I was a sole practitioner until 2005. I then joined Davies Murray-White as a Partner until they merged with Thomson & Bancks in April 2018 when I became a Partner of Thomson & Bancks.
I retired in June 2025, having spent nearly 40 years dealing with Wills, Probate, Trust Administration, Inheritance Planning, Powers of Attorney and looked after our Elderly Clients’ service. I also had many years’ experience in all types of commercial property and Landlord and Tenant matters.
I now plan to spend my summers sailing and my winters picking up game with my labrador Toby!

Angela Scott
I graduated with an Honours Degree in Law in the last century and have been qualified for the best part of 40 years. After working for major law firms in London and Birmingham I joined the practice in 1992 and having been part of the furniture for many years, I eventually retired in June 2026!
I was the first female Partner of Thomson & Bancks in 2001 and was Head of the Private Client Department for decades. My lovely partner Sarah Ingles has now kindly taken on these roles. I am down to earth, practical and a problem solver getting the job done whatever it may be, big or small. Being from Northern Ireland, I call a spade a spade, am known for knocking heads together and keep a magic wand in my handbag to deal daily with what arises, retired or not! I brought to my working life straight talking and experience in both the property field and in my principal area of Private Client work. I will no doubt continue to do so in retirement! The technical world and the word “App” still give me the shivers and both red tape and procrastination drives me mad! A simpler life on the high seas beckons!
I am returning to spend time sailing back in Strangford Lough in my native Northern Ireland, the West coast of Scotland and who knows further afield! Depends which way the wind blows! I shall enjoy many a G&T, ice and a slice and watch the sun set on the Mourne mountains.
